Song Details[edit | edit source]
Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]
"Wayne's Pet Youngin'" is a skate punk song with noise rock elements. It is in the key of E minor.
The lead vocals are performed by Gene Ween. Guitar is played by Dean Ween. Like most of the songs on GodWeenSatan, the drums are played by Dean Ween and the bass is played by Andrew Weiss.
A demo of the song appears on some copies of the 1988 demo tape WAD - the same recording appears on Big Timmy Wasserman, alongside a few other tracks from the WAD sessions. This version is mostly identical in structure to the studio recording, minus the extended count-in and a slow reprise of the first verse during the laughing at the end that fades out.
Live Performances[edit | edit source]
The song was first played live in March 1989, but was played very rarely afterwards; it is likely that the lack of recordings from shows played between 1990 and 1992 contributes to this. There are some exceptions when the song was played more frequently, including a period over 2000–2001 as well as for a few years immediately before and after the first Ween hiatus.[1]
A 7/7/2000 recording from the White Pepper tour can be heard on the Live at Stubb's album, and a 9/14/2001 recording from the GodWeenSatan anniversary show was released on GodWeenSatan: Live.
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
Official lyrics, handwritten by Dean Ween, were printed in the GodWeenSatan liner notes:
Morgan's pain succumbs to the frame
Inna zany combination of Wayne's pet youngin'
Astral plane, conversing lane
Inna zany combination of Wayne's pet youngin'
A stained pane, drownin' out the rain
Inna zany combination of Wayne's pet youngin'
You name the game, and I'll bring Dwayne,
And Roger and Rerun to Wayne's pet youngin'
Rerun's brain, confetti stain
Inna zany combination of Wayne's pet youngin'
What's your name? Are u glad u came?
Would you die in the name of Wayne's pet youngin'?[2]
