Big Baboons

"Big Baboons" is a song by Ween recorded during the Wad sessions. Circulated for years under the title "Baboon (Part 2)" in severely damaged quality, Ween archivist Chris Buly released a high quality recording through the Boognish Rising Christmas 2013 Sampler.

"Big Baboons" is known to have been played live at least once at an unknown date in early 1989,[1][2] although it's very likely it was performed more as many of Ween's early shows and setlists are lost to time.

Music Video[edit | edit source]

One of few GodWeenSatan era music videos to be released publicly, the band created a homemade video for Big Baboons in 1987

The video was uploaded to the internet briefly in 2013 by Chris Buly[citation needed] and later republished on the night of September 14th, 2025[3]. It features Gene Ween talking to someone off camera, Staring at his hands, during the solo, shots of him yelling and moving around in darkness.

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Sometimes when I'm alone
And thinking about myself
I go to the phone
And call someone else
The human is not at home
She's warping past the moon
Well I think I'll go insane
And become a big baboon

Big baboons don't worry about the weather
Oh, I said
Big baboons don't worry about the time
I have baboon friend named Freddy
He's a, he's a good friend of mine

Take it, Dean!

Well, Freddy likes to eat fruit
And chew upon the vines
He doesn't wear a suit
And he doesn't do lines
He's just a baboon
Unlike you and me
He's got ears and he's got a tail, well
He can even see

Big baboons don't worry about the weather
I said, I said, I said, I said
Big baboons don't worry about the time
I have a baboon friend named Freddy
He's a good friend of mine
