Featuring vocals by Gene Ween, the song has been described as a musical homage to Bob Seger.[1]

There are only 3 known live performances of "Old Man Thunder", from 1993, 1994, and 2001.[2] The version from the 9/14/2001 anniversary concert was officially released on the album GodWeenSatan: Live.
