The Mollusk Tour (April 1997 - June 1998)[edit | edit source]

Leg One (Pre-release shows)

The shows, taking place in the months leading up to the release of The Mollusk on June 24th, 1997, were the first to feature Ween as a five-piece band, introducing new members Dave Dreiwitz and Glenn McClelland replacing Matt Kohut on bass and Bobby Ogdin on keyboards respectively. The shows featured a three-night stint in New York and one Pennsylvania show at the end. The first and last shows were brief television appearances, the first for a Comedy Central program and the previous for a public access program in the band's home state of Pennsylvania.

Leg Two[edit | edit source]

This leg of the Painting The Town Brown tour, was relatively short and lasted for little over a week. This tour saw the first regular performances of "The Grobe," from the upcoming White Pepper album, and "Touch My Tooter," "Buenas Tardes Amigo," "Homo Rainbow" "The Blarney Stone" were returned as fixtures of the sets. Touch My Tooter had earlier been a regular part of the Chocolate & Cheese tour setlists, but was slowly phased out by September 1994. The return of the song was likely inspired by a granted request to hear it on the August 26th show, which was followed by the group working it out on stage before launching into the number. Of the 5 band members on stage, only Dean, Gene, and Claude, had ever played the song before on stage.

The songs "Back to Basom," "Ocean Man," "Pandy Fackler," "The HIV Song," "What Deaner Was Talkin' About" and "You Fucked Up," were all removed from the regular setlist, only appearing rarely.
