Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

The studio version of "Now I'm Freaking Out" is in the key of D# major, while live performances transpose it down to D major.

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

The song was first played live on November 29th, 1994 during the Chocolate and Cheese tour, where it was played infrequently. The song was re-introduced to the setlist during The Mollusk tour, and became a regular part of the setlist for the second leg of that tour and having been a somewhat infrequent inclusion since. In addition, Gene Ween has played "Now I'm Freaking Out" numerous times at solo acoustic shows.[2]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Get me a sweater, it's cold
Said the lady to the dwarf
Fetch me some freedom soon
Or I'll be gone

Left on a train for a place
Not far from here
Dwarf-man said 'thy work
Shall be done

And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out

Champagne, apricot
Amber and rose
Squeezing my mind
When I find the time

Tree turned green after first freeze
And it looked like it was frozen
Frozen

And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out

Why can't this song go on and on
And on and on and on and on
If Bob Lee says it was okay
Okay

Put on your shoes and smile
When you can
Cause it looks like you were chosen
Chosen

And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out
And now I'm freaking out
