Glenn McClelland

Glenn McClelland has been the keyboard player for Ween since 1995, with him having played on every studio album since The Mollusk.

In addition to various keyboards, McClelland has also been credited with accordion[1] and bass,[2] and very occasionally performs theremin[3] and lead vocals live.

Career[edit | edit source]

McClelland had begun playing piano at the age of 10, and started playing piano professionally in bars at the age of 16.[4] Prior to joining Ween, he was a member of the jazz rock band Blood, Sweat & Tears starting from 1987 until leaving to join Ween in 1996. He would later resume his membership of the band in 2005, where he has remained a member since.

Joining Ween[edit | edit source]

Dean Ween met McClelland while drinking at a bar, and later said he had "found a kindred spirit in him, even though we came from totally different musical backgrounds."[5] McClelland told Deaner he had heard of Ween after noticing the album cover for Chocolate and Cheese at Greg Frey's Graphic Sound studio, and upon inquiring about the album, Frey played "Freedom of '76" for him.[6] Ween's first sessions with McClelland on keyboards consisted of the songs "Boys Club" and "I'm Dancing in the Show Tonight" (the latter of which McClelland brought his son Charlie for)[5], followed by another session that produced "Booze Me Up and Get Me High", by which point McClelland would join the band full-time and overdub keyboards for The Mollusk.

After Ween broke up, McClelland joined the Dean Ween Group, again on keyboards.
