"Pandy Fackler" is a song by Ween from the 2000 album White Pepper.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
The lead vocals are sung by Dean Ween, who also plays guitar on the track. Glenn McClelland plays keyboards, Claude Coleman plays drums, and Dave Dreiwitz plays bass.
"Pandy Fackler" dates back at least the summer of 1998, when it was played live for the first time, nearly two years before the release of White Pepper. The following summer, Ween began playing the song more frequently, and it has remained a fairly common live song ever since.[1] The song is often extended and used as a showcase for Glenn McClelland's keyboard playing. According to Gene Ween, he and other band members also use Glenn's solo spot during this song as an opportunity to take a break during shows. Glenn loves playing the song.[2]
"Pandy Fackler" has also been played numerous times by the Dean Ween Group.[3]
When Deaner introduced the song for its first recorded performance, he said "This is about a girl from down here (New Jersey). Well, she was a retarded girl actually. Kinda down and out. Semi-retarded, she’s not full retarded. So she has to suck dicks under the boardwalk to make a quick buck, and that’s what its about.” When introducing it on December 31st, 1998, he said "This is a song about a girl from Jersey, not much like her. Bruce Springsteen type action. This girl has a problem, we don't talk about it. She sucks cocks underneath the boardwalk in Asbury Park. This is a true story. Bust out some Steely Dan type shit"
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
Pandy Fackler was a working girl
Living alone in another world
Of picket fences and white façade
Sucking dicks under the promenade
She was almost in a coma
From doing the Bossa Nova
And the Funky Cold Medina
Man, I wish you coulda seen her
Poor little Pandy's doing the best she can
Eating cotton candy from the garbage can
The first to come and the last to go
I met her backstage after the second show
Two lonely people on a summer night
We weren't in love but it was still alright
I held her close and she squeezed me tight
My Pandy
