Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Love" is in the key of A major.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone approached Ween to write a song, as they were both big fans of Ween.[1] It was for a scene where Orgazmo tests the Orgazmo ray, with the only direction given being to make it sound "super gay".[2] It was written and recorded at Claude Coleman's Stoney Brook Studios in Hopewell, New Jersey, in January 1998, during a quick writing and recording session before the last leg of The Mollusk Tour. The song was inspired partially by "I'm Into Something Good" by Herman's Hermits, as it was used as temp music by the directors to portray the vibe they were looking for. After being well-received by Parker and Stone, the band re-recorded it at Graphic Sound Studio [3]

This was the first of many collaborations between Parker, Stone and the band, including "Homo Rainbow", the music video for "Even If You Don't", and South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert. Despite being prominently heard in the film, the song never saw release on the official soundtrack.[4]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Love, its such an easy game to play
Love, take my hand and I'll show you the way
Shed your skin, and let me begin to love

Love, oh girl you know I'll show you how
Love, we'll steal the fleece from the golden calf
It feels so right to hold you tonight, love

Love, oh girl you know I'll show you how
Love, we'll steal the fleece from the golden calf
It feels so right to hold you tonight, love

Doo doo doo doo-doo
Doo doo doo-doo-doo-doo, doo doo
Doo doo doo-doo
Doo doo doo-doo-doo-doo, doo doo
Doo doo
