Song Details[edit | edit source]
Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]
"Wash Me Down" is in the key of F major.
"Wash Me Down" was recorded in 1998 and included on The Long Beach Island Tape,[1] a tape of White Pepper demos stolen from the band in 2000.[2] As such, the ethics of circulating this song is disputed.
Dean Ween has explained that "Wash Me Down" was inspired by the winter beach house setting where it was written and recorded: "Every time after we fished, we'd have to be washed outside to get off the sand."[3] He also said that this song (as well as "Alcan Road") was musically inspired by the Pink Floyd album More.[3]
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
Covered in dirty from the land
Wash me down
Wash me down
Sank by sleeping in your head
Wash me down
Wash me down
Build a better feather till the weather's gone
Gone
Oooooh....
Build a better feather till the weather's gone
Going home
Take it, Deaner
