"Wife" (also known as "Be My Wife") is an unreleased song by Ween. It is a White Pepper outtake.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
"Wife" was recorded in 1998 and included on The Long Beach Island Tape,[1] a tape of White Pepper demos stolen from the band in 2000.[2] As such, the ethics of circulating this song is disputed.
Live Performances[edit | edit source]
"Be My Wife" was partially played at one Ween show in the summer of 1999, and never heard live again.[3] The performance was dedicated to Gene Ween's then-wife Sarah Poten.[4]
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
I'm so glad I've got you back into my life
And I pray, I hope you'll say
That you'll be my wife
I've been down and you've had your share of loss and strife
Still I know the sun will shine
If you'll be my wife
Don't worry, I'm not so far gone
I can't be the man that you'll count upon, forever
Soon there'll be another soul to complete the trinity
And I know it'll be so safe
Snuggled between you and me
I'm so glad I've got you back into my life
And I pray, I hope you'll say
That you'll be my wife
