Sarah
"Sarah" is a song by Ween from the 1992 album Pure Guava.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]
"Sarah" is a psychedelic dream pop song with art pop influences. Due to tape speed manipulation, the studio version is in the key of A major, while live performances transpose it down to G major.
The song was written by Gene Ween about his then-girlfriend Sarah Poten. The two would later be married from 1999–2003.[1]
Live Performances[edit | edit source]
"Sarah" was played live as early as July 1991, sixteen months before its release on the Pure Guava album. It was especially common in the late 90s, including on the Mollusk tour. Gene Ween has also played the song several times during solo acoustic shows. "Sarah" has not been played live since the 2012 Ween hiatus.[2]
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
The Pure Guava lyric sheet contains official lyrics in Dean Ween's handwriting:
When I find you in your sleep
Sarah
I will tell you what u mean to me
Sarah
I know this big world ain't always what it seems
[Sarah]
Forever may I love u, and forever may u dream
Sarah[3]
