Live Performances[edit | edit source]

The live debut of "Exactly Where I'm At" was by Gene Ween and Chris Harford, who played an acoustic version of the song at a Jimmy Wilson Group show in the spring of 1999, over a year before the release of White Pepper.[1][2] The following year on the White Pepper tour, Ween introduced the song formally with the full band, and it has been a common live Ween song ever since.[3] A notable performance of "Exactly Where I'm At" was on The Late Show with David Letterman on 7/25/2000.[4] Another performance from the same month (7/7/2000) can be found on the Live at Stubb's album.

Gene Ween has played "Exactly Where I'm At" numerous times at solo performances, including solo acoustic, and especially with his band Freeman during the Ween hiatus.[5]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Let's begin with the past in front
And all the things that you really don't care about now
You'd be exactly where I'm at

And to think you've got a grip
Well, look at yourself, your lips are like two flaps of fat
They go front and back and flappity flappity flap

I'm on stage, it's all an act
I'm really scared that I may fall back on the abstract
You'd be exactly where I'm at

If you're to be the roaming eye
Well, pry it open and let me tell you why it sees
The harsh realities

So let's begin with the past in front
And all the things that you really don't care about now
You'd be exactly where I'm at
