Song Details[edit | edit source]
Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]
"Spirit Walker" is a song that shifts through the minor and major keys of C and C#. The vocals stay in the key of C major despite the key changes in the instrumental.
The lead vocals are sung by Gene Ween. He has stated that "Spirit Walker" is a love song about his wife, which he wrote when the two were engaged.[1] The vocal effect was produced with Auto-Tune, which Gene said he downloaded and intentionally "abused miserably" by turning it up all the way.[2]
Live Performances[edit | edit source]
"Spirit Walker" was debuted by Gene Ween with acoustic guitar at a singer-songwriter event in the summer of 2006.[3][4] He continued to play the song frequently at solo acoustic shows.[5] Ween proper only played the song a handful of times during the La Cucaracha tour; they have not played it since 2008.[6]
