"Deep Calm" is a song by Ween, released on the semi-official EP Gener's Gone: The Final Demo Recordings of Gene Ween.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
Although recorded as a Ween demo while the band was still together, "Deep Calm" is often more associated with Gene Ween's solo career. The song dates back at least to the spring of 2009, when Gene Ween took the song on tour with the Gene Ween Band. Gene also played it live a number of times at solo acoustic shows in 2011.[1] It has never been played live by Ween.[1]
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
Welcome back to the land of the living
You were gone so long in the deep calm
Welcome back to the land of the living
You were gone so long in the deep calm
I was tucking into bed with my darling
Wet with feeling, I was puffed out enough
Snacking candy, like the heat I was tasting
Timber lava and a honeycomb egg
Woo-hoo
Welcome back to the land of the living
You were gone so long in the deep calm
Welcome back to the land of the living
You were gone so long in the deep calm
Swizzle stem, I can breathe from the airway
Finger sticking and I'm counting to twenty
Green and blue, the reflection of ruby
Eyes are closing and they peel back again
Woo-hoo
Welcome back to the land of the living
You were gone so long in the deep calm
Battle gods, and they're flailing with anger
Sinking in, and feeling my skin
Lone Ranger was a man on the TV
Mouth is open, and I'm sleeping again
Woo-hoo
Welcome back to the land of the living
You were gone so long in
