Song Details[edit | edit source]

"Baby Don't Be Afraid" was written by Gene Ween probably in June 2006.[1] The released version was recorded sometime between 2009 and 2011.

This song was played live informally by Ween during a 2006 show with Chris Harford. However it is probably better known as a solo song by Gene Ween, who played it live semi-regularly from 2006 to 2010.

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Baby, don't be afraid
'Cause afraid is just an emotion
A harmless little feeling
So don't be afraid

Baby, don't turn around
'Cause everybody is laughing
Pointing their little fingers
So don't turn around

You've got to look your best
Or they're gonna criticize you
That might make you scared
But you can't be afraid

I can't believe how fat
You've become over the winter
You look like a bloated whale
But don't be afraid

You were born from a loving place
Smiles on faces above
Painting fences on the greenest lawn
Dog licks peanuts and checkers

So, baby, don't look so sad
'Cause somebody's become your master
Just do exactly what he says
And you'll be okay

I wouldn't take off my towel
When lounging around by the poolside
Someone might see your thighs
And think you're big

Just practice a selfless mind
And preserve your inner nature
Take off your bathing suit
And let your journey begin

Feel your skin and pleasure yourself
Love is a natural cure
Peel a green by willow tree
Cat [lip?] marble and honeybee
