"King Billy" is a song by Ween from 2007's The Friends EP.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
"King Billy" was mixed and produced by dub reggae producers King Jammy and Michael McDonald (not to be confused with the more famous singer and musician of the same name). A group named the Firehouse Crew is credited with performing "rhythm tracks", and Greg Frey is credited with additional recording and mixing.[1] The lead vocals are sung by Gene Ween.
Ween has only played "King Billy" live one single time, in 2017 (nearly ten years after the song's release on The Friends EP).[2] However, Gene Ween played the song frequently with his band Freeman during their 2014 tour.[3]
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
(King Billy...)
King Billy, why don't you invite them up?
I got a word or two to tell them
It's all 'bout the situation
A terrible miscommunication
It involves a child of mine
Destined to side with the oppression
King Billy
Let me speak to them
But a bad wire burns the connection
A man fix the problem
It is the only solution
King Billy
I see them birds in flight
Take off in every direction
I'm a thinking man, a feeling man
I will not side with the oppression
(King Billy...)
King Billy, why don't you invite them up?
But aim them in the opposite direction
A chance at love attraction
A chance to heal the nation
(King Billy...)
(King Billy...)
(King Billy...)
(King Billy...)
(King Billy...)
