Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Object" is an alternative rock song with influences from soft and blues rock in the key of C minor.

Speaking about "Object", Dean Ween said it was "one of my favorite tracks on the record... It's like Al Green meets Phoebe Snow singing about murdering someone over a slow blues."[1][2] The lead vocals are sung by Gene Ween.

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

Ween introduced "Object" live in the fall of 2007 on the La Cucaracha tour, and it has been a fairly common live Ween song ever since.[3] In addition, Gene Ween has played "Object" numerous times at solo acoustic shows.[4]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

You're just an object to me
I'd like to get to know you better
Paste you across my body
You're just an object to me

You're just a piece of meat
And I am the butcher
I'll love you better, love you forever
You're just an object to me

Why sit in the shade
Drink what we made from our lovers' cup
Dreams don't always come when you fall asleep
You're just an object to me

I'm gonna do something wrong
Nobody's gonna like it
But I’ve got my pride and my time isn’t free
You're just an object to me

You're just an object to me
I feel a little better
They found your sweater
You're just an object to me[5]
