Live Performances[edit | edit source]

"DC Won't Do You No Good" dates back to at least December of 2006, when it was played at a concert for World Cafe Live with Chris Harford & The Band of Changes.[2] The lineup for the show included Harford on vocals and guitar, Gene Ween on vocals and keyboard, Dean Ween on electric guitar, and Dave Dreiwitz on bass. The song was then performed live by Ween only once, in the spring of 2007.[3] However, the Gene Ween Band played the song a number of times in 2008–2009.[4] Gener also released a demo version (under his real name, Aaron Freeman) on his SoundCloud in 2012.[5]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

My baby stayed with D.C. for the weekend

Shinin’ up his goose when I was gone

Her daddy went and picked me up on Monday

Told me where her little girl had gone

But D.C. was a bad man

Pickin’ it up and falling back again

Let me take you home, take you home

‘Cause D.C. won’t do you no good

Thought it was a dream

Pennies down on a bad hand

Tellin’ me why you was gonna change

Real life was like

Dust on a poor man’s shoes

Still he stole your heart away

But D.C. was a bad man

Pickin’ it up and falling back again

Let me take you home, take you home

‘Cause D.C. won’t do you no good

But D.C. was a bad man

Pickin’ it up and falling back again

Let me take you home, take you home

‘Cause D.C. won’t do you no good

Let me take you home, take you home

‘Cause D.C. won’t do you no good[6]
