Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Kite Flying Man" is a psychedelic pop song in the key of C major.

Although "Kite Flying Man" is a La Cucaracha demo, it seems to have been recorded without much (if any) of Dean Ween's involvement, and is associated more with Gene Ween's solo career than with Ween. According to Gener, he wrote "Kite Flying Man" at the beach.[1]

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

Gene Ween played the song live frequently between 2008 and 2013, both solo acoustic and with the Gene Ween Band.[2] Ween has never played it live.[3]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

I'm the kite flying man
Love to see the flying
Kite flying man
Shadows on the children
And they swerve and they sway
With the breezes gently lifting

Kite flying man
Join me in the heavens
Kite flying man
Souls are full of laughter
So take hold of my hand
And we'll fly this way forever

Get me to the skies [in the] snowflake, baby
Sandy suits and butter string candy[?]
Taste the tannin from this morning's tea[?]
And I'm ready to go, ready to see it all

I'm a fish, no, I'm a stick
I'm a shell on a string
Up I climb into the air
Where I can be anything

I'm the kite flying man
