Song Details[edit | edit source]

Although recorded as a Ween demo while the band was still together, "Thanks and Praises" is often more associated with Gene Ween's solo career. Lyrics[edit | edit source]

We see the Jew against the Muslim

The black man, vs the white man, and Puerto Rican

Buzz on the street say the policeman

Shot down a mother from Uganda, oh no

That's why we must give thanks and praises! oh no

Ayanai, cha-cha, a smackin' down Babylon

Tribulate the trails of Ayanai

How can one man swim, when the other drowning?

Some say I lack flexability

Impacts the future of development, oh

but if you lock that man in prison

Tell me who, who gonna feed all his children? oh no

That's why we must give thanks and praises! oh no

Ayanai, cha-cha, a smackin' down Babylon

Tribulate the trails of Ayanai

How can one man swim, when the other drowning?

I stick in the mud will only sink deeper, no no

When conqueror opresses the Rasta children

don't call the agile with deception

let us pray together for a unification, mhm

That's why, that's why we must give thanks and praises! oh no

Ayanai, cha-cha, a smackin' down Babylon

Tribulate the trails of Ayanai

How can one man swim, when the other drowning?

How can one man swim, when the others drowning? (No no!)

How can one man swim, when the other drowning? (no)

How can one man swim, when the other drowning?

How can one man swim, when the other Drowning! Drowning! Drowning!

How can one man swim?
