"Captain" is a song by Ween from the 2003 album Quebec.
Song Details
Recording and Composition
"Captain" is entirely built around a guitar and bass line in the key of A minor. The song draws some musical inspiration from Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs, as referenced in mix notes from Quebec's production.[1]
Much of the song was recorded by Gene Ween alone; he sings the vocals, and plays all guitars and bass, as well as an electronic instrument called an Omnichord. Josh Freese plays the drums, and Andrew Weiss is credited with synthesizer and strings.[2]
Alternate versions
An early demo version of "Captain" is found on the semi-official The Caesar Demos.
Live Performances
"Captain" was debuted in the spring of 2003 and was played frequently on the Quebec tour. The song became less frequent over the next few years, and since then has been only an occasional live Ween song.[3]
Lyrics
The very short official lyrics were printed in the Quebec liner notes:
Captain, turn around and take me home [2]
