"Piss Up a Rope" is a song by Ween from the 1996 album 12 Golden Country Greats. The lead vocals are sung by Dean Ween, who also wrote the song. The solo in the bridge is a bass solo by session musician Pete Wade on the six-string bass. Producer Ben Vaughn stated that the bass was run through a "moogerfooger, I think it was one of those electro-harmonix pedals, it's like a micro-synth or a moog simulator you run your guitar through. Ween use it on almost everything."

The title phrase comes from an expression Dean Ween's father used to say.

Here are a few other examples of good pages that you might want to view to start:

However, just because they are featured here doesn't mean they are complete! If you know any more info about them, feel free to add it.

Recent Updates

  • 03/24/2023: We now have the ability to add playable .mp3 audio clips. Please note that to avoid copyright infringement, we are not hosting full recordings of Ween songs. However, short audio clips can be useful for providing certain information. See an example on the She Fucks Me page.

How Can I Help?

Go ahead and make any edit that you think is useful! But if you want a suggestion, here are some ways to help:

  • Click on "Recent changes" on the left sidebar to see what pages other people are working on.
  • The Ween page itself is embarrassingly thin right now. It needs a ton of work.
  • The biography pages for people associated with Ween (see this category) need to be fleshed out with more information, pictures, etc.
  • Most of the album pages (see Ween Discography) need a lot of work as well.
  • It would be nice if the look and graphic design of the site was improved. If you have the interest and technical ability to help with this, please contact me (see below).

Why isn't a certain piece of information listed on the wiki?

Because YOU haven't added it yet! ;)

Anybody can edit ween.wiki, and you are encouraged to add or change anything that you feel would improve the site in any way. Go ahead and make an account, and contribute your Ween knowledge!

What if I mess something up?

Every change is reversible back through the history of the site. So don't worry about messing something up, it can always be corrected.

Why does the site look like shit on mobile?

This is because the default skin on MediaWiki doesn't support mobile. A new skin has to be installed (see here). It's on the list of things to do. In the meantime, it is recommended to tap "Desktop" at the bottom of the page to view the desktop version.

Who made this?

The creator and administrator of ween.wiki is Plump Buck Mulligan, who can be reached on Discord at: Plump Buck Mulligan#3707, or on Reddit at /u/westknife.

Is this like the They Might Be Giants wiki?

Yes, the idea for this was inspired by the great They Might Be Giants wiki (tmbw.net) which is the gold standard for this kind of stuff. It's very useful to look around there for ideas about how to organize a band wiki.

Why isn't this on Fandom?

Fandom (a.k.a. Wikia) is a popular and free host for fan-made wikis. It is very easy to set up and use, but unfortunately it has a lot of problems. First and foremost, you sign away the IP rights to everything that goes on there, so your wiki is owned by a private company, not by the fan community. That sucks! Also, it's loaded with ads and pop-ups and looks like complete garbage.
