Shinola, Vol. 1 is an odds-and-ends compilation album by Ween, released on July 19, 2005.
The tracks on Shinola were made by remixing and editing various demo recordings from previous recording sessions. In some cases, new material was recorded and added to the songs.
Description and History[edit | edit source]
Shinola, Vol. 1 was compiled out of regret for not including the selected songs on any official albums.[1] While most songs present on Shinola are merely remixes, there are several instances where the band re-recorded parts of a song, most notably the vocals on the Quebec demo "Someday".
The compilation was released on Ween's own independent label, Chocodog.
Dean Ween later stated he had "mixed feelings" during the production process and was unsure if he would help compile a second volume[2], though later he stated it to be one of his favorite Ween records.[3] Nearly two decades later, there are no known plans for a Shinola, Vol. 2, though Deaner once stated via a Facebook comment that he had picked out songs for a potential second volume.[3]
