Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Kim Smoltz" is in the key of G major.

The song was recorded in 1995 during the first beach house sessions for The Mollusk. It has been noted that the drum machine track and synthesizer refrain are similar to the Mollusk song "Pink Eye (On My Leg)".

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

Although "Kim Smoltz" gained popularity after being included on the semi-official The Mollusk Sessions in 2007, it was not until after the 2016 Ween reunion that they began including the song in live sets.[1]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Take it easy, walk with a light step, baby
Catch a breezy, live amongst the lifeforms in your day
Marinate a good piece of beef
Understand the mind of a leaf
Swim around 'til the fish float out of the socket in your skull

Dive deeper, corner of a fungus in your brain
Take it easy, I wanna live my life in vain
The more you chew things, I leave 'em to rot
Woke up with a nose full of snot
Baked a muffin, the tops burned and I had to throw them away

Up this morning, daylight's sooner than I thought
The sun was shining, plucked a flower from a stalk
Smelt good and it made me smile, so
Took a run about a quarter of a mile
Felt my lungs fail, so I got myself back home

Take it easy, walk with a light step, baby
Catch a breezy, live amongst the lifeforms in your day
Marinate a good piece of beef
Understand the mind of a leaf
Swim around 'til the fish float out of the socket in your skull
