Kevin the Honky
"Kevin the Honky" is an unreleased instrumental song by Ween. It is an outtake from The Mollusk.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
"Kevin the Honky" was recorded and mixed during sessions for The Mollusk. The track was previewed and streamed as part of Deaner's July 25, 2001 takeover on the now-defunct WeenRadio service. Information about this track was scarce, with the two key notes being that it was a "Mollusk outtake" and was streamed as part of said takeover.[1]
Interest in the track increased in 2018, 17 years later, after a Reddit post on the Ween subreddit involving the tracklisting of the takeover resurfaced.
In 2021, after a fan had asked him about this track in a Cameo post from Dean Ween, he revealed that it was recorded as an instrumental track, was already in the mixing stage before being cut from the tracklisting of The Mollusk, and that he still had the recording of the song in his possession. He referred to the song as a "big, fat, brown jam".[2]
The track eventually leaked on the Ween Archived YouTube channel on November 10, 2021, 20 years later after the initial WeenRadio takeover, along with uploads of several unheard Ween recordings from the same stream. The source of these recordings is unknown.
