"Fluffy" is a song by Ween from the album 12 Golden Country Greats.

Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording[edit | edit source]

Due to tape speed manipulation, the studio version of "Fluffy" is in the key of C major. Live performances transpose the song up to D major.

The lead vocals are sung by Gene Ween. Producer Ben Vaughn stated that the lead guitar solo was played by Gene double-tracked on top of himself.[1] After recording, the entire track was slowed down.[2]

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

"Fluffy" was debuted live by Ween with the Shit Creek Boys during the 1996 12 Golden Country Greats tour. The live song differed dramatically from the studio version; it was used as a set-closer and was frequently stretched out to several times its normal length, with a large and anthemic feel. A 10/23/1996 example of this can be heard on the Live in Toronto Canada album. In later years, "Fluffy" has been less common but has still typically been played at least a few times a year.[3] In addition, Gene Ween has played "Fluffy" at a few solo-acoustic performances.[4]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Fluffy, furry buddy
Chewed his leg
On the porch
Why'd you do it, Fluffy?
On the porch

Good dog, Fluffy
Old friend
My pal
Fluffy's got his buddy
On the porch

Penny, she's my girly
She sits here with me
On the porch
Penny looks so pretty
On the porch

Penny takes Fluffy
For a walk
Out on the path
Fluffy chases the other doggies
On the path

The pig says to Penny
Get Fluffy back on the porch
So me, and Fluffy, and Penny
We're on the porch
