"Laura" is a song by Ween from the 1991 album The Pod.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]
"Laura" is an experimental psychedelic noise rock song with slowcore elements. It is in the key of A major.
Alternate Versions[edit | edit source]
The same recording with a slightly different mix appears on the bootleg Big Timmy Wasserman Tape.
Live Performances[edit | edit source]
Despite being released on 1991's The Pod, "Laura" was not ever played live during the DAT-deck era. The song was debuted with the full band in 1994, and while not common, it has been played at least a few times during most years of Ween, even including one performance on the 1996 country tour. In addition, Gene Ween has played the song several times during solo acoustic shows.[1]
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
The grain bag sits on the chair
And why the hell am I with ya?
And if you told me that it wasn't there
Why the hell am I with ya?
You know I really don't care
Why the hell am I with ya?
I told my mommy that it was okay
And why the hell am I with ya
Laura...
Laura...
Oh baby I cut myself...
And if you threw the garbage away
Why the hell am I with ya?
And if you knew if you wanted to stay
Why the hell am I with ya?
Little Eddie Dingle is going away
And why the hell am I with ya?,
Somebody wants to come and play
Why the hell am I with ya
Laura...
Laura...
You know something?
I got something
I got something
I got something for all the people in the world...
