Song Details[edit | edit source]
In 2013, there were plans for a twenty-fifth reissue of Chocolate and Cheese, intended for release in 2014. Multiple people were asked to submit a remix for inclusion on the release, among them being José McGill.[1][2] "Don't Put Your Finger on the Shit on the Hill" was created for this project, combining backing vocals for "Up on the Hill", the vocals of "Don't Shit Where You Eat", and various overdubs by McGill's band the Vagaband.[3] The title makes reference to "I Can't Put My Finger on It," but it's currently unknown what was sampled (if anything) from the song.
The instrumental section includes samples from multiple Ween songs:
- "Hit me again" from "Awesome Sound"
- Laughing from ????
- "Okay" from ????
- "We gotta be tight" from "Ode to Rene" on Paintin' the Town Brown: Ween Live '90–'98
- More laughing from ????
- "Yeah, alright, yeah!" from ????
- "Son of a bitch" from ????
- Clapping, "That was some tight shit, right?" and "That's what we're talking about" from "Cover It With Gas and Set It on Fire" on All Request Live
- "I know, I know!" from ????
- "Oh, god" from "The Goin' Gets Tough From the Getgo"
- "Like my mama used to say" from "Buenas Tardes Amigo" on Live in Toronto Canada
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
Don't you ever think of me
When you're outside strollin'
Don't you ever wave the flag
When we're rockin' and rollin'
Don't shit where you eat, my friend
Who said it was hard to climb
A peak that you can't see?
I tell ya it's an easy thing
When it's you and me
But don't shit where you eat, my friend
A little food and drink, uh huh
Nothin' too fancy
Lamb, veal, and some good ole wine
This is the life for me
But don't shit where you eat, my friend(Hit me again)
(Okay)
(We gotta be tight)
(Yeah, alright, yeah!)
(Son of a bitch)
(That was some tight shit, right?)
(I know, I know!)
(That's what we're talking about)
(Oh, god)
(Like my Mama used to say)
Don't shit where you eat, my friend
