"Champagne Jam" is a song by Atlanta Rhythm Section, which Ween covered for the soundtrack of the film Run Ronnie Run!, released in 2002.

Song Details[edit | edit source]

"Champagne Jam" was written and recorded by Atlanta Rhythm Section for their 1978 album of the same name.[2] Ween would record the song for the film Run Ronnie Run! after being asked by Bob Odenkirk and David Cross sometime in late 2000 or early 2001.[3] It would be recorded at Greg & Pat Frey's Graphic Sound Studio with drummer Sim Cain, who partially filled in for longtime drummer Claude Coleman on Quebec.[3]

A report from MTV also stated that they were working with the Vandals on an original song for the film, but it's unknown what happened to this.[1] Gene Ween recorded a vocal for a song in the style of Huey Lewis and the News, used in the end credits of the film. This vocal replaced one by the songwriter, Scott Aukerman, as the director reportedly didn't like his vocal take.[4][5]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Come on, Mama, give me a break
Me and the boys are going to stay out late
I can't help it, it's in my bones
We'll be jammin' all night long
Gonna play up a storm, ooh mess around

We're goin' to have us a champagne jam
We're goin' to have us a champagne jam
Ooh, hoo

Bring out the guitars
And let's play some blues
Don't want no whisky
Give me some high class booze
Champagne, ooh thank you ma'am

We're going have us a champagne jam
We're going to have us a champagne jam, yeah
Come on
So let's have some first-class fun
Come on
Everybody gonna play some

Let's raise a ruckus, let's tie one on
Bring out a bottle of Dom Pérignon
If you throw us in jail, we don't give a damn

We're goin' to have us a Champagne jam
Pour some Champagne
Ooh thank you ma'am, thank you ma'am
We're goin' to have us a Champagne jam
We're goin' to have us a Champagne jam
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Come on
