Song Details[edit | edit source]

Composition and Recording[edit | edit source]

Most versions of "Boobs" can be categorized as a set of experimental noise rock songs, with the "Nice Version" instead being a psychedelic folk song. The original and "Nice" versions are in A# major, while the "Telephone Version" is in C# major and "Boobs III" is in A major.

In all versions except "Boobs (Nice Version)" from Squeegie, Gene Ween sings the lead vocals and Dean Ween plays guitar and drums. In the Nice Version, Gener sings the lead vocals and Deaner only plays guitar.

Alternate Versions[edit | edit source]

Title Appears on Notes
Boobs Erica Peterson's Flaming Crib Death
Boobtalk The Crucial Squeegie Lip Not a version of the song, but a spoken intro.
Boobs (Nice Version) The Crucial Squeegie Lip As the name implies, this version is more relaxed and softer than the other versions of the songs, with a notable absence of drums.
Boobs (Telephone Version) The Crucial Squeegie Lip This version is much rougher and abrasive in sound quality.
Boobs III The Crucial Squeegie Lip This seemingly rerecorded version appears on Squeegie. This is the closest to the original version from Erica Peterson.

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

A version of Boobs was played at a show in Trenton on 5/2/1988, though it was not included on the live album half of The Live Brain Wedgie!/Wad Excerpts. While the song hasn't been played since that show, it was teased during a 1994 show in Ottawa.[1]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

"Boobtalk"

Q: So tell us Dean Ween, what do you think of Boobs?

A: Oh, well, the song Boobs itself, um, was a very inspired song, um, it was- its about sexism within our scene and it's always been a problem and it always will be, so Aaron and I came up with the song but as for Boobs themself um, we think the human body is the ugliest thing ever, and boobs are a real exception.

"Nice Version"

I said I love your boobs
I said I love your soft and spongy boobs
I want to touch, I love your soft and spongy, spongy boobs
yeah, oh
I want to touch them
I want to fondle them
I want to squeeze them
Big bazongas of yours, those boobs

"Telephone Version"

I love your boobs
I love your soft and spongy boobs
I love your boobs
I love your big fat soft and big ones baby!
I love your boobs
I love your soft and spongy big bazongas baby!
I love your boobs
Boobs

"Boobs Part III"

I love your boobs
I love your soft and spongy boobs
I love your boobs
I said I love your soft and spongy big ones baby!
I said I love your boobs
I want to touch them
I want to fondle them
I want them in my hands!
Your boobs
I love them
Boobies, boobies...
