Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Weed Whore" is a psychedelic electric blues song in the key of C major.

Alternate versions[edit | edit source]

Two mixes of the song are in circulation, with one being an official album mix done by Andrew for inclusion on The Pod that ultimately went unused. The album mix contains a far more prominent drum machine beat. The spoken word section is present on only one live recording, from 1995.

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

"Weed Whore" was performed sporadically throughout the GodWeenSatan tour, then once during the Chocolate and Cheese tour.[1] Four 'live in the studio' recordings were made for radio broadcast but only one, from December 12th, 1990, was in circulation.

Ween named their private Live Weed Whore tape, recorded on July 26th, 1990 after the song and it features the three other live in the studio versions.

Live Spoken Intro[edit | edit source]

[June 16th, 1995]

  • Dean: This is a song we wrote when we lived at The Pod, listen, there was a woman who lived upstairs above us. Every time we'd smoke any pot, she'd come and knock on the door, and ask us if we had any pot. It was the sleaziest thing that you've ever fucking seen
  • Gene: Her name was Dawn and she was a lesbian.
  • Dean: Her name was Dawn and we wrote this song about her so we could play it and she could hear it right through the floor, and it's called Weed Whore.
  • Gene: But we love Dawn. We'll always love Dawn.
  • Dean: She's a weed whore.
