"Smooth Mover" is a song by Ween, first officially releasing on the deluxe edition of Chocolate and Cheese in 2024. It is considered to be a Chocolate and Cheese outtake.

Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Smooth Mover" is in the key of E minor.

The song was probably recorded in 1992 during sessions for Chocolate and Cheese. A studio version exists from around the same year and is widely circulated by the community, but this was not used on either Chocolate and Cheese or the deluxe edition.

The song was primarily written by Dean Ween,[1] and the lead vocals are probably sung by Gene Ween. The vocals were long thought to be sung by Guy Heller, before Heller stated in 2023 that he had no part in the song.[2] This is consistent with the crediting on the tape insert for Creme de Menthe tape, which the demo is found on, which credits Heller only for "I'm Fat" and not "Smooth Mover".[3] The song still frequently appears on various online sources incorrectly attributed to Heller.
