Dickie Betts
"Dickie Betts" is an instrumental song originally by Ween that has since become more associated with the Dean Ween Group.
Song Details[edit | edit source]
"Dickie Betts" [title spelling sic] was most likely written by Dean Ween, and is a direct homage to the musical style of The Allman Brothers Band, in particular the guitarist Dickey Betts from that band.
The song was formerly referred to "Allman Sunset" when Ween played at their 1998 Asbury Park gig[1], however in the subsequent performance in June of 2000 the track had already started being referred to as Dickie Betts. It was played live only a small number of times around the White Pepper era[2]; with no original Ween recording in known circulation.
Later, around 2014 during the Ween hiatus, the Dean Ween Group began playing the song heavily, and it has remained a very common song during their shows.[3] They recorded a studio version and it was released in 2016 on The Deaner Album.
