Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]
"I Still Love You" is a country song in the key of C# major.
The song was probably written in 1992. The lead vocals are sung by Dean Ween. A studio demo version of the song is circulated on the Chocolate and Cheese Demos: Summer 1992 bootleg, though a slower 4-track demo recording utilizing a drum machine instead of the brushed live drums of the more well-known version has been circulated as well.
According to the Ween fan site 'Awesome Sound' (active in the late 1990s and early 2000s), the song was written by a man named Al Savio, who sold car insurance to Ween in the 90s.[1] Although the page states that this information came directly from the band, no publicly available source has been found to support this claim and it remains unconfirmed.
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
As I lie on my bed
Thoughts of you fill my head
And I wish they would all go away
I need you so
I’m sure you know
That I still love you
How could all of our dreams
Come apart at the seams
When it looked like our love couldn’t die?
You wanted me
To set you free
But I still love you
I thought at first you were fooling
Playing some silly game
But now you’re gone
And I’m all alone
I wish there was someone else to blame
Though I try not to cry
There’s a tear in my eye
And I’m sure more will come every day
But through the years
With all my tears
I still love you
Through the years
With all my tears
I still love you
All through the years
With all my tears
I still love you [2]
