"The Argus, Pt. 2" (unofficial title) is an unreleased song by Ween. The commonly used fan title is incorrect, as the song pre-dates "The Argus".

The song is sometimes referred by the alternate fan title "Call on Argus".

Song Details

The song was conceived around 1997 and can be considered a Mollusk outtake.[1] In a Facebook post from 2015, Dean Ween explained:

The first version of "The Argus", we did this on a 4-track at my house [...] This version came way before the Quebec "Argus".[2]

Dean Ween's Facebook post regarding "Argus 2"

In the same Facebook post, Dean explains that "The Argus Pt. 2" originates from the same source of inspiration as "The Argus"; the concept was inspired by a building they saw called "Argus International":

Up the street from Claude’s house on route 31 in Hopewell, NJ was this very big rundown factory with this crazy, almost satanic symbol on the face of the building and the name of the place was ARGUS INTERNATIONAL. That’s what started it all.[2]

Lyrics

A little bitty snack for Argus

And a snack for the creature in his hand

Wriggling through his fingers

And into the soul of man

Hastened by the sound of craving

He turns it to an energy form

Focused on the goal of pure soul

And leaving everyone in the dust

Call 'em all

But call on Argus

Call on your inner pride

Leave them alone

To postulate their own framework

Freak out on the side of real man

Johnny had a bad hair color day

So he saw his artist extraordinaire

Dragged him along and sang him a song

Flailing his arms in the air

Johnny sent his mind to Argus

And gingerly he agreed

Once inside the mold of time

You're free to plant any seed

Call 'em all

But call on Argus

Call on your inner pride

Leave them alone

To postulate their own framework

Freak out on the side of real man
